Spend this morning with Olinda Rasmijn from Stimaruba walking part of the creek bed towards the Ocean. Got about 1/2 way, before turning back.
Learned quite a bit and lots of information. Olinda really knows her stuff. Lots of plants that grow in the wild around here, she was really surprised that we had so many of them growing in the creek. These shrubs and plants appear to be very scarce elsewhere on the island and have quite some medicinal value.
Will be preparing a writeup with pictures and locations in near future, to document our findings.
On a side note, the Wayaca tree (
Guaiacum officinale) that I commented on in this blog back in September 2017 as being more than 100 years old, she said it is probably about 400 years old!!!!
WOW!! 😳
